What we’re learning this week

Where we’re headed next time

Big Idea: God is With Me (Part 1)

1 Kings 19v9–18. God called to Elijah in a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard this, he went out to meet with the Lord.

Dig into God’s Word

  • Read 1 Kings 19v11–13a.

  • After reading, remind your child that just as God was with Elijah in the cave, God is with us.

Connect as a Family

Your child is capable of imitating sounds. Use your voice inflection to create a verbal picture of the wind, fire, earthquake, and the whisper of God. Encourage your child to repeat the sounds you make.

  • How did Elijah know that God was with him?

  • He heard His gentle whisper.

Blessing

Blessings are often used in the Bible. A blessing can be a prayer of commission, a portion of Scripture, or words to encourage and guide.

Open a Bible and read Read Psalm 46v1: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
