The Parent Weekly for August 31st, Remember & Celebrate: God Made Me, Loves
Me, and Is with Me

What we’re learning this week

Big Idea: God’s Word Has Power (Part 2)

2 Kings 22—23v23. Scrolls containing God’s Word were discovered during the temple restoration. Josiah made sure the scrolls were read to the people. The powerful words led the people to destroy their idols and continue to repair the Lord’s temple.

Where we’re headed next time

Big Idea: God Made Our World

Genesis 1v1—2v3. In six days, God created our world. Everything from the heavens and earth to the animals and people who inhabit it—the Lord created them all. On the seventh day He rested. God has entrusted His creation to our care.

Dig into God’s Word

  • Read Genesis 1v26–31. After reading, remind
your child that God created the world and everything in it.

Connect as a Family

It may seem that your child wants to touch, smell, or taste everything he comes in contact with. Sensory experiences help him learn about the world around him and remind him that God created the world and everything in it.

  • Who made our world?

  • God did!

Blessing

Blessings are often used in the Bible. A blessing can be a prayer of commission, a portion of Scripture, or words to encourage and guide.

Open a Bible and read Psalm 19v1: “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
